According to a new survey, gamers spend the equivalent of 3 years of their adult life gaming online. The poll, conducted by Hyperoptic, found that online gaming accounts for 5% of the average adult lifespan. It was also found that gamers spend around $300 online each year, which adds up to just over $20,000 throughout their lifetime. "It's clear from the research just how passionate and dedicated gamers are to their hobby, reflected by the time and money spent on it," Charles Davies, Managing Director for ISP at Hyperoptic. 1,000 regular gamers in the UK were surveyed to see how their hobby has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Gamers in the UK are now gaming for an extra two and a half hours a week because of the COVID-19 lockdown. Online gaming has proven to be a valuable way for people to socialize as they remain isolated. The survey also revealed that 52% of parents have been allowing their children to play for longer during lockdown. 31% of respondents reported that they had rediscovered their love for gaming since lockdown began.
