OkCupid Adds BLM Badge And Racial Inequality Questions To Profiles

On June 11 dating website OkCupid announced they’re launching a Black Lives Matter badge in dozens of countries. Users can get the badge on their profile by answering yes to a question that asks them if they’d like to support the movement. OkCupid has donated $50,000 to several organizations including ACLU, Black Girls Code, Fair Fight Action, and NAACP. The company is donating $1 million worth of advertising space on its app to black civil rights organizations. They’ve also added questions on racial inequality in their matching questions section. Users can say whether they think it’s okay to silently support racial equality or not and how they address the issue. Over 100,000 users have already answered the questions. According to OkCupid, 70% of those who answered the questions are protesting for equality. OkCupid have also created badges and questions for other social justices issues in the past such as marriage equality.
