-TEHRAN, IRAN — SEPT. 5, 2025: Iranian Muslims marked Mawlid al-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, with a celebratory event in Tehran on Friday night, Sept. 5. Participants played tambourines and listened to Islamic hymns during the gathering. The event is scheduled to continue nightly through Sept. 12. Mawlid al-Nabi commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad in Mecca on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-awwal in the year 570 CE.
