Almost everything that survived the first fire was consumed by the fire of the second fire that broke out in the Moria refugee camp, one of the largest refugee camps in Europe, according to what the Greek Ministry of Immigration said Thursday, displacing thousands of migrants who now need shelter places. Early in the morning, former residents returned to the overcrowded camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, which was under quarantine after cases of coronavirus infection, to collect the charred remains of their belongings and salvage what they could after many of them had spent the night outdoors. A series of small fires broke out in the remains of the tents set up outside the camp, and the strong winds increased their flames on Thursday morning, consuming what remained of the camp.
