A Libyan migrant was rescued near the Maltese coast today, Friday, after he jumped from a German rescue ship in an attempt to swim to the island's shore. The migrant, whose identity is still unknown, was rescued by sailors and rescuers from the German relief group when he jumped into the water from the deck of the group's ship while a number of members of the German Parliament and some journalists were on board to assess the health conditions of the migrants. The German non-governmental relief group says that 32 migrants were rescued by a ship on the 22nd of last December, and another German ship rescued 17 others. The German ships "Sea Watch" and "Sea Eye" (non-governmental) had been searching for days for a safe port to disembark the rescued migrants. After days of staying at sea and the passengers being exposed to health problems due to bad weather conditions, Malta allowed two German ships carrying 49 migrants rescued from the sea to enter its territorial waters, but did not allow the two ships to enter its ports.
