A new scandal affecting the world of football. The day after leaks were revealed about the French club Paris Saint-Germain that revealed a classification of young players on an ethnic basis, the club promised to shed light on the issue starting next week, by conducting an internal investigation, and imposing the necessary penalties against those behind it. The leaks affected a recruitment cell composed of about fifteen people involved in that classification. The investigation indicates that from 2013 to 2018, this cell referred to racial criteria in the evaluation lists of young players, a practice that is illegal in France. The French League for Human Rights has filed a lawsuit against an anonymous person for attempting to discriminate on a racial basis and collect and process personal data, according to what was revealed by a group of European media outlets, including the investigative news site Mediapart. According to Agence France-Presse, it appears that some players were deported and were not assigned to the Parisian club, for the sole reason of their ethnic origins, and this is a violation of the criminal law. The case has drawn condemnation from the French Minister of Sports, Roxana Marasino, and the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism.
