The cub, “Leo,” became the most famous animal in the streets of the city of Dohuk in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, after the people of the city became accustomed to his presence around them in the company of his owner, Bland Mamoun. Mamoun is a member of the Kurdish-American Organization for the Protection of Animals, which helped him acquire different types of pets in the past, but he says this is his first experience dealing with a wild animal. Leo is one year old and was cared for by Mamoun twenty days after his birth. Mamoun is not afraid that Leo will take any hostile action because he lives the life of a pet and feeds on milk like cats since he was young. The patrons of Dohuk cafes feel familiar with Leo after they became accustomed to his presence among them on visits accompanied by Mamoun all the time. However, veterinarian Suleiman Saeed confirms that the behavior of cubs and lions changes and becomes more ferocious after they reach the age of one and a half years.
